about.com
1. Wear makeup instead of a mask, or choose a mask that allows for unobstructed sight and hearing.
2. Buy costumes, wigs, and other accessories that are flame-resistant. And have kids rehearse the "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique in case their clothes do catch on fire.
3. Write emergency identification information (name, address, phone number) discreetly within the costume or on a makeshift bracelet made of a strip of light-colored cloth.
4. Make sure the costume has enough room for warm clothing underneath. A cold child is an inattentive child.
5. Plan costumes that are easily seen on dark nights by drivers. Add reflective tape (you can even buy it in spooky gray) to too-dark outfits. Make sure costumes are short enough that kids don't trip on them or inadvertently brush them against the low-lying flames in jack-o'-lanterns and candles.
6. Avoid simulated knives, guns, or swords. If you can't, make sure they're soft and flexible enough to prevent injury.

Serving Size: 1
Notes:
This is a great addition to punch!

Pumpkin noses – cantaloupe
Crockpot Carmel Apples
Serving Size: 8
Notes:
These are easy to make. The extras you can add on are only limited by your imagination.
Ingredients:
2 pkg. (14 oz.) carmels
1/4 C. water
8 apples
8 sticks
optional
nuts
M&M's
mini chocolate chips
candy decorations
Preparation:
In crockpot, combine caramels and water. Cover and cook on high for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Wash and dry apples. Insert stick into stem end of each apple. Turn control on low. Dip apple into hot caramel and turn to coat entire surface. Holding apple above pot, scrape off excess caramel from bottom apple. Place on greased wax paper to cool. Once the carmel has set you may wish to roll the apples in the toppings of your choice.
Frozen Hand
Preparation:
Make sure you rinse the glove well if you intend to put this into something that will be consumed. Some rubber gloves come with a fuzzy lining inside, avoid those! Place 1 quart of water in a bowl, and add food coloring of your choice. For a witch you might want to add green, or for a space alien you might want to add blue. Pour colored water into glove, tie off glove with a rubber band. Lay glove on its side in your freezer, and freeze overnight. It is a good idea to put the glove on a cookie sheet, or in a large flat container, as a bit of the liquid may leak. When frozen solid remove, and place into punch.

Merry Melody's 2008
The Phantom is one of my favorite Halloween Activities. Happy Haunting
The Phantom haunts you happily from now through Halloween,
and was delivered by a friend who (hopefully) was not seen.
The spirit of the neighborhood has come to wish you well,
someone, somewhere, selected you to receive this happy spell.
You must display the Phantom on your door so all can spy
that you’ve already been haunted by this happy little guy.
Then fix 3 sacks with goodies like the one given to you,
ring someone’s bell and leave a bag and make them happy, too!
Happy Halloween!
Make 3 copies of the phantom ghost & this letter to go with your treats
Tomorrow night the phantom will be you.
