Primary Halloween Articles of Faith Fun & Treats

Maybe I'm early but I couldn't help myself. Halloween can be so fun!

Articles of Faith Ghosts or pumpkins

Divide Primary into teams
Each team assembles articles of faith by finding ghosts or pumpkins (White or orange balloons with faces) popping them and retrieving the part of the article of faith inside.

For older kids the A of F could be divided into 5-7 pieces for younger kids you could have 2 or 3 pieces.

You could have Ghost or pumpkin treats when everyone finishes the Articles of Faith.

Chocolate Ghost Cookies
Notes:
These can be put together in a jiffy.
Ingredients:
1 lb. white chocolate coating
1 pkg. Nutter Butter Peanut Bars
1 pkg. mini chocolate chips
Preparation:
In the top of a double boiler melt white chocolate coating. Dip cookies into coating covering completely. Set on waxed paper to cool. Spread melted chocolate to areas which did not get covered. Add eyes using mini chocolate chips.

Halloween Ghost Sticks
Supplies and Ingredients:
Pretzel Sticks
White Chocolate Bark (or white melting chocolate)
Chocolate Sprinkles
Mini Chocolate Chips
Optional: Cellophane and ribbon for decorating
How to make your Ghost Sticks:
* Melt the white chocolate or white chocolate bar in a bowl in the microwave, or on the stove with a double boiler. Follow the instructions on the chocolate package. Most can be melted in the microwave (that’s my favorite method).
* Dip the pretzel into the melted chocolate, and lay on aluminum foil, or wax paper to cool. You can also prop them upright in cups, to avoid having one side flattened.
* While the chocolate is still soft insert two chocolate sprinkles for eyes, and a mini chocolate chip for a mouth. You can also wait until they dry, and use black jel icing to make the eyes and mouth.

Duchesse Ghost Potatoes
4 pounds large potatoes
3/4 stick (6 tablespoons) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/4 cups milk
3 large egg yolks
small dark seeds such as black sesame seeds or nigella, cumin seeds or caraway seeds for eyes
1. Peel and quarter potatoes and in a large saucepan cover with salted cold water by 2 inches. Bring water to a boil and simmer potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes
2. While potatoes are simmering, in a small saucepan heat butter with milk over moderately low heat until melted and keep warm.
3. Drain potatoes in a colander and place in a bowl. With an electric mixer beat in milk mixture, yokes and salt and pepper to taste.
4. Preheat oven to 400 F.
5. Spread about one third of the potatoes in a buttered 1 quart gratin dish and transfer remaining potatoes to a pasty bag fitted with a 3/4 inch plain tip. On potatoes in dish pipe potatoes close together into pointed mounds for form "ghosts" and garnish each mound with 2 seeds for ghosts' eyes. Potatoes may be made up to this point 1 day ahead and chilled, covered loosely.
6. Bake potatoes until heated through and tops of "ghosts" are golden, 15 to 20 minutes
7. Be very afraid.

Crispy Rice Jack-o-lantern
Notes:
This is an easy way to make a Jack-o-lantern you can eat.
Ingredients:
1 Stick Butter
2 (10 oz). Packages Marshmallows
12 C. Rice Crispy Cereal
1 tsp. Yellow Food Color
1/4 tsp. Red Food Color
Green Decorating Icing in Tube
Black Decorating Icing in Tube
Decorating Tips
12 C. Bowl (not plastic)
Preparation:
Melt butter on low heat and add marshmallows. Stir marshmallows frequently. When marshmallows have dissolved, add food colors and mix well. When the marshmallow mixture is uniform in orange color add cereal and stir and mix until rice crispies are completely coated.
Pour mixture into the bowl that has been well sprayed with a non-stick spray. Carefully press down cereal (spray the spoon or your hands when pressing the cereal, this helps so the cereal will not stick). Place into the refrigerator until completely chilled and firm. When the pumpkin is chilled remove from refrigerator and invert onto a plate. Remove bowl and decorate with leaves and stem. A great jack o lantern smile will be the finishing touch.
The Jack-o-lantern makes a great centerpiece and a delightful treat.
