At our house I give a time limit of usually 15 minutes. It reduces grumpiness. They can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I read a cute idea about making up stories like we are Cinderella and have to clean the floors so we can go to the ball or the pirates will take away all our cookies if we don't have the kitchen clean etc. Mrs. Piggle Wiggle is fun too.

We did a house fairy for awhile that the kids loved. She would visit if the house was tidy and leave a special something for the kids. We also occasionally do a CTR (Choose the Right) prize. These seem to work for awhile.

Working together and often seems to work best for us. A sort of family work routine.

We can always improve. What works for you?
