Scavenger Hunt with clues

Memory Game
Show the children a picture of a busy street scene or one with lots of people and action going on. Let them study the picture for a set amount of time, about 10 seconds. Take the picture away and ask them questions about the picture’s details. See who can remember the most details.

Make Headbands

Sleuth Fishing from the recent movie
Tie a string around a pencil. Have safety pins available for the guests to attach to the string. Place binder clips on the floor or inside a small plastic pool. The kids must hook their safety pin through the clips and collect as many as they can!

Find the ticking time bomb
Place a ticking alarm clock in an area of the party, an have the kids “detect” where the sound is coming from…they must find the clock and get rid of it in a set time (3-5 minutes)

Identify suspicious sounds
The library often has CDs of sounds or you can pre-record different sounds for the kids to identify using pencils and notepads…alarm clock ringing, nail scratching, door bell ringing, dog barking, door opening, tea kettle whistling, etc.

For the Murder Mystery, each child draws a piece of paper from a hat. One slip has a picture of a dagger; another, a detective. All others are blank. The detective identifies herself; the dagger-holding murderer stays a secret. Turn off the lights. Everyone scatters throughout the house. The murderer then sneaks around and whispers, "You're dead" to a victim, who screams as he falls "dead." The lights are turned on, and everyone checks the crime scene for clues. Without asking, "Are you the murderer?" the detective questions everyone to find out whodunit. Everyone except the murderer must answer truthfully. If the detective can't deduce who the murderer is, the lights go out, and the murderer strikes again and again until his identity is revealed.
Or you could do a jewelry thief and give out plastic beads for the thief to steal. The detective could wear a bag on their head or a blindfold while the thief prowls.

Fingerprint each guest using an ink pad and an index card with his name on it. Then each guest holds a different clean glass that can be dusted for prints: Sprinkle the glasses with baby powder, carefully brush off the excess powder with a clean paintbrush, and fingerprints will appear. Try to match the prints to the index cards.

Detective Disguise Relay Race
All good agents know how to disguise there true identity!
Before the party, mark a start and finish line in your play area.
Divide the kids into teams. Provide each team with a suitcase filled
with disguise items; hat, glasses, trench coat wig etc.
Each team should have the similar items. When you say "GO"
the first player on the team will quickly put on the disguise,
run to the finish line and back, then remove the items.
The next player, takes a turn and so on until all team-mates
have had a turn. The first team to accomplish their mission wins!
