FHE - Gratitude
Opening Prayer
Attention getter: Have everyone take off their shoes or socks - place a rock in one of each persons shoes and give them a lollipop. Have them walk around the room or around the house. Have them tell about what that was like. A lot of people will talk about the rock in the shoe and forget about the blessing of the lollipop. Talk about how it is important to not loose sight of the many things there are to be grateful for even though we have difficulties.
“The United States Post Office dead-letter department receives annually thousands and thousands of children’s pre-Christmas letters addressed to Santa Claus asking for things. After it was all over one year, a single, solitary letter thanking Santa Claus was received. Could this be one of the problems of this troubled world; that people think only of getting—not giving? Of receiving—and not even expressing their gratitude for that which they do receive?”
—Elder Thomas S. Monson
Scripture: “Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.”—Doctrine and Covenants 59:7
Song: For Health and Strength
Activity: Make thank you cards - remember Santa ;)
Story: Too many peaches story
Song: I think the world is glorious
Closing Prayer
Snack: peaches or peach cobbler

Gingerbread Song
(Tune: Frere Jacques)
Gingerbread, gingerbread,
Yum, yum, yum, Yum, yum, yum.
I like gingerbread, I like gingerbread,
In my tum, In my tum.
Five little gingerbread men lying on a tray,
One jumped up and ran away.
Shouting, "Catch me, catch me, catch me if you can...
I'm really quick, I'm a gingerbread man!"
--count down the numbers reapeating the stanza above--
No more gingerbread men lying on a tray,
They all jumped up and ran away.
Oh, how I wish they had stayed with me to play.
Next time I'll eat them before they run away.
Five Senses Gingerbread Art
What You Need: * Sandpaper * Crayons * Cinnamon Sticks
What You Do: * Cut out gingerbread men sandpaper and give them to your children. Allow them to decorate their Gingerbread man with crayons, and cinnamon sticks. The children will be able to smell and taste the cinnamon, feel the sandpaper, hear the scratching (of cinnamon and sandpaper), and finally see their gingerbread people
Gingerbread Hunt
I have a gingerbread girl doll and my class went on a hunt to find her. I wrote a note and left clues. We went around the school and asked different people if they had seen her. The children enjoyed trying to find her.
